II—Why annual
The annual plan matches the provisional window.
A US gives you 12 months to convert it into a (or a ) before it lapses. Paying annually on Core or Pro aligns your subscription with that exact window — so you have the full year to keep refining your claims, reviewing prior art, and getting the draft to a real ready state, with the same billing cycle. When the year ends you either file the non-provisional, renew for another invention, or step down.
Month 0

Month 6

Month 12

III—One-time add-on
Handing off to an attorney? Give them everything they need.
Attorney Handoff
$500
A complete package formatted for a practicing patent attorney: invention disclosure document, claim chart with antecedent-basis map, prior-art dossier with §102/§103 annotations, and a clean claim-strategy memo. Add this to any plan — one-time, no subscription.
Add handoff →Already included on
Premium includes the Attorney Handoff on every draft you generate — no add-on purchase needed.
Premium ($500/mo) breaks even against the handoff add-on after just one draft per month. If you're filing more than one provisional a year, Premium is almost certainly cheaper than buying the handoff repeatedly.

V—Billing questions
The short version.
What does the Free tier actually get me?+
One novelty score — the number only. You'll see something like '73 / 100 — likely patentable' but not the prior-art list, not the §102/§103 breakdown, not the explainer. Free exists so you can decide whether the real product is worth $50/month, not to be a working tool on its own.
Why caps instead of unlimited?+
Each novelty score runs real USPTO and EPO searches plus an AI analysis — that costs us real money per run. The caps keep pricing low. Core's 10/month is plenty for one invention; Pro's 100/month covers serial filers; Premium has no cap at all.
What happens if I hit my cap?+
On Core you'll see a prompt to upgrade to Pro or wait until next month. On Pro you can buy additional searches at $1 each — no upgrade needed. On Premium there is no cap to hit. Unused credits do not roll over.
Should I pay monthly or annually?+
If you're filing one provisional, go annual on Core ($500/year). A provisional gives you exactly 12 months to convert — the annual plan matches that window perfectly. Pay once, file, spend the year refining your claims, and you're done. No recurring bill unless you renew.
What's the difference between Pro and Premium?+
Pro is for a serial inventor filing multiple provisionals per quarter on their own. Premium adds the Attorney Handoff on every draft automatically (the $500 add-on is baked in) plus direct founder support — you email me, I respond. If you file 3+ provisionals a year and would buy the handoff add-on each time, Premium pays for itself after the first. If you're a hobbyist filing one invention, Core is the right call.
What is the Attorney Handoff and when would I buy it?+
It's a one-time $500 add-on: a complete package formatted for a practicing patent attorney — invention disclosure document, claim chart, prior-art dossier with §102/§103 annotations, and a claim-strategy memo. Buy it when you want a real attorney to review your work before filing, or when you're converting your provisional to a non-provisional and want a clean handoff. Premium includes this on every draft automatically — buy Premium if you expect to need more than one handoff per year.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. Cancel from your account settings. Drafts you already generated stay accessible, and deadline reminders for patents you already filed keep sending until the 12-month window closes — even after cancellation.
Do I need a credit card for the Free tier?+
No. Free is genuinely free — no card, no trial countdown, no surprise upgrade. One novelty score, then a paywall.
Is there a student discount?+
Yes. Email support with a .edu address for 50% off Core for 12 months.
